Recommendation Letters

Recommendation letters are not required by the university or Panhellenic Council, however are required by sororities. Recommendation letters are written by alumna in good standing of the sorority. Letters of support are not necessary during the formal recruitment process.

Sororities expect PNMs to complete the recommendation letter process as outlined by their national sorority. Visit their national and local websites to learn more about their recommendation letter process, including forms, mailing addresses, deadlines, and who to contact. You can locate sorority local websites here:
Sororities at Ole Miss have requested that recommendation letters be sent as soon as available and if possible before September 5, 2016. Some sororities will accept recommendation letters after this date.
The individual completing the recommendation for the PNM should mail it directly to the local sororities.
PNMS should not send test scores or transcripts to local sororities.
Sororities at Ole Miss have requested that photo collages, videos, and any food items not be sent to the sorority, including during formal recruitment.

As you transition to college, it’s important to have an updated resume. You can use resources from the University of Mississippi Career Center, NPC The Sorority Life, and Harvard University Career Center.

Alumnae Panhellenic Associations

An Alumnae Panhellenic is a community-based organization, affiliated with the National Panhellenic Conference, whose membership is composed of representative alumnae from NPC member group fraternities and sororities. Alumnae Panhellenic Associations located in cities across the country work together to advance the Panhellenic community, including supporting women as they prepare to attend college and participate in formal recruitment. Connecting with your local Alumnae Panhellenic Association is a great way to begin exploring sorority life and learn more about the Panhellenic community at the college/university you are planning to attend.
